Precision M6700 mobile workstation

This Dell Precision M6700 is a 17.3-inch mobile workstation running Windows 10 Pro. It pairs a quad-core Intel Core i7-3740QM processor with 32 GB of DDR3L memory. Storage combines a 1 TB SSD and a 1 TB hard drive, while graphics are handled by an NVIDIA Quadro K3000M with 4 GB of DDR5 video memory. The anti-glare Full HD display and backlit keyboard complete the package.

Suits engineers and legacy-software users

Professionals maintaining 32-bit or early 64-bit CAD, CAM or simulation workloads will appreciate the Quadro K3000M driver stack and the dual-drive layout. The optical drive and full-size numeric keypad also help in environments that still use physical media or heavy data entry. Buyers who need a modern GPU architecture, higher single-thread speed or a thinner form factor should look elsewhere.

Quadro K3000M with 4 GB DDR5

The discrete NVIDIA Quadro K3000M GPU provides 4 GB of dedicated DDR5 memory for hardware-accelerated viewport rendering and compute tasks. This graphics subsystem determines whether the laptop can run the specific ISV-certified applications you rely on. If your workflow demands more video memory or a newer compute architecture, this unit will not meet that requirement.

Questions about this item

Does the 32 GB DDR3L memory leave any free slots for future upgrades?

The system ships with 32 GB of DDR3L already installed, which matches the maximum supported capacity, so no additional memory slots remain available.

Can the NVIDIA Quadro K3000M with 4 GB video memory drive an external 1920 x 1080 display alongside the built-in 17.3" panel?

Yes, the Quadro K3000M supports multiple displays and can run an external 1920 x 1080 monitor while the internal 17.3" FHD screen stays active.

How can I verify that both the 1 TB SSD and the 1 TB HDD are recognised after the first boot?

Open Disk Management in Windows 10 Pro; you should see two separate 1 TB volumes — one on the SSD where the OS resides and the other on the 2.5" hard drive.
