Enterprise capacity and speed

This 1.2 TB drive spins at 10000 RPM and connects through a 6 Gbps SAS interface. It is built for laptops and other 2.5 inch bays and ships with a tray for direct installation. The high rotation speed supports demanding read and write workloads.

Suits high-performance mobile storage

It fits users who need enterprise-grade throughput in a compact form factor. Buyers who require larger capacities or solid-state latency should evaluate other options. The SAS interface also requires a compatible controller in the host system.

6 Gbps SAS interface

The drive communicates over a 6 Gbps SAS link, which determines whether it can be used in a given laptop or server bay. Confirm that the system provides a SAS backplane or controller before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Does my laptop need a SAS controller to use this 1.2TB 10000RPM drive?

Yes, the drive uses a SAS interface so the host system must provide a compatible SAS controller or backplane.

Can I run this 6Gbps SAS drive on an older 3Gbps SAS backplane?

The drive will negotiate down to 3Gbps on an older backplane and operate normally at the lower link speed.

How can I confirm the RMCP3 is spinning at 10000RPM after installation?

Check the drive’s reported rotational speed in the BIOS or with a SMART monitoring tool; it should show 10000RPM.
