Thermals and power in daily use

What the bundled items change

The package includes an AC adapter so the laptop can be powered immediately. The B-grade condition notes scratching on the bottom and top case along with possible uneven light diffusion on the screen. No WWAN card is fitted, limiting connectivity to WiFi only.

Questions about this item

How do I install the M.2 SATA SSD in the Dell XPS 13 9365, and what step do people often miss?

The drive slots into the M.2 socket at a slight angle before you press it flat and secure the single retaining screw; the step many miss is pressing it fully down before tightening that screw, otherwise the drive sits proud and the bottom case will not close.

What maintenance or replacement will the 8GB memory and 128GB SSD need later?

The 8GB memory is soldered to the board so it cannot be upgraded; the 128GB M.2 SATA SSD is the only user-replaceable storage, and you may want a larger drive once the OS and updates consume most of the space.

What limit appears first on the Core i5-8200Y under sustained load?

The 1.30GHz base clock and low thermal envelope cause the CPU to throttle quickly during prolonged workloads, so sustained multi-core performance drops well below the rated speed as the cooling system reaches its limit.
