Dell XPS 9730 17-inch mobile workstation

This new Dell XPS 9730 laptop combines a 17.0 inch FHD+ non-touch display with a 14-core Intel Core i7 13th Gen processor reaching 5 GHz turbo. It ships with 64GB memory and a 4000GB SSD alongside a dedicated GeForce RTX 4050 GPU with 6GB GDDR6. Windows 11 Home is preinstalled on this silver chassis.

Suited for creators needing a large screen

The 17 inch 1920 x 1200 panel and 64GB RAM support timeline editing and multi-application workflows. The RTX 4050 adds dedicated graphics muscle for GPU-accelerated filters. Buyers who want a touchscreen or a higher resolution panel should look at something else.

Deciding spec: 4000GB SSD with 64GB soldered memory

The single specification that decides fit is the combined 4000GB solid-state drive and 64GB memory configuration. This capacity pairing is fixed and cannot be upgraded later. Confirm the storage and RAM totals match your project requirements before purchase.

Questions about this item

How loud and hot does the RTX 4050 6 GB GDDR6 get under continuous load?

The RTX 4050 6 GB GDDR6 and i7-13700H share a quad-fan vapour-chamber design; under sustained work the system runs warm but stays within Dell's thermal limits without excessive fan noise.

Does the 4000 GB SSD need an extra drive caddy or bracket to install?

No — the 4000 GB SSD is factory-fitted and the laptop ships with Windows 11 Home pre-installed, so nothing extra is required to start working.

Will my older USB-A mouse and HDMI monitor work with the XPS 9730?

The XPS 9730 uses modern ports; you will need a USB-C hub or adapter to connect legacy USB-A and HDMI devices.
