Eight-port RS-232 server for USB hosts

The Digi International Edgeport 301-1002-18 connects eight serial RS-232 devices to a single USB port on a host computer or server. It is aimed at technicians and integrators who need to manage multiple legacy consoles, modems or industrial equipment from a modern USB-only platform. The unit is supplied new and requires no internal expansion slots.

External power and driver support complete the link

The converter draws power from an external supply, leaving the host USB bus free for other peripherals. Driver installation on the host operating system enables each of the eight ports to appear as a standard COM port for existing terminal or automation software. Buyers who need more than eight simultaneous serial connections or a different physical interface will need an alternative solution.
