The DSC-PoE-E1 is a single-port Power over Ethernet extender built for IP camera installations. It repeats both data and PoE power over Cat5 UTP cable, allowing a camera to sit up to 120 metres from the source switch. The unit complies with IEEE 802.3af and requires no configuration.

100 Mbps and 13 W input ceiling

The extender operates at 10/100BASE-TX speeds, so the link tops out at 100 Mbps with a switching capacity of 400 Mbps. PoE input is limited to 13 W and the forwardable output drops to 12.2 W, which restricts the device to standard PoE cameras rather than PoE+ or higher-power models.

12.2 W output decides camera compatibility

Only cameras drawing 12.2 W or less can be powered reliably through this extender. Installations that need more power per port or gigabit data rates will require a different solution.
