What this cable does

The Doctor Metal Ethernet cable is a Cat 6 unshielded patch cord with RJ45 plugs on each end. It provides a wired gigabit link between a router, switch or modem and a computer, console or smart TV. The eight metre length suits rooms where the socket is far from the desk.

Behaviour on a long run

The unshielded twisted-pair construction keeps signal loss low across the full eight metres so throughput stays at gigabit rates during large file copies or streaming. Copper conductors resist heat build-up even when the link is saturated for hours. No latency spikes appear under sustained load.

Fitting it in

Each end clicks into a standard RJ45 port without tools; the moulded strain relief stops the plug rocking loose when the cable is routed round skirting boards. The only common snag is running the slim black jacket through tight cable ducts where a thicker shielded cable would jam.
