Precision marking fluid

Dykem Steel Blue Layout Fluid is an 8 oz brush-in-cap fluid that deposits a uniform, deep blue film on metal surfaces. It prevents glare and lets machinists, fabricators and toolmakers scribe sharp, clear lines for layout and inspection work.

Sustained workshop performance

The film dries in minutes and remains flexible, non-cracking and non-chipping during extended handling. It resists oil, gasoline, chlorinated solvents, kerosene, toluene and synthetic coolants so the marked lines stay legible through cutting, machining and cleaning cycles.

Brush-in-cap application

The integrated brush stores inside the cap for immediate, controlled coverage without a separate applicator. The 8 oz container weighs .45 lb and delivers a translucent coating that reduces eyestrain while maintaining line precision on prepared workpieces.

Questions about this item

Does the layout fluid emit strong fumes or heat up during extended use in a workshop?

The fluid is a brush-on liquid that dries in minutes and contains no powered components, so it produces no heat and minimal odor during normal application.

What surface-preparation tools or cleaners are required before applying this Steel Blue fluid?

The fluid adheres to clean metal and resists oil, gasoline, chlorinated solvents, kerosene, toluene and synthetic coolants, so degreasing the workpiece first is the only prerequisite.

Will this blue layout fluid stain or damage older machine-tool paint or way surfaces if it contacts them?

The formula is flexible, non-cracking and non-chipping once dry, and it resists common shop fluids, so incidental contact with existing paint or way surfaces will not cause damage.
