Eaton 5S 700LCD UPS 420 W

The Eaton 5S 700LCD is a compact battery-backup unit that delivers 420 W of AC 120 V power through eight NEMA 5-15 outlets. A single lead-acid cell provides runtime for essential loads, while the USB port enables monitoring and graceful shutdown on Windows, macOS or Linux.

Home offices and small workstations

It suits desktops, networking gear and point-of-sale terminals that need brief ride-through during short outages. It is not for rackmount installations, loads above 420 W, or sites that require longer autonomy than one internal battery can supply.

420 W power capacity

The 420 W rating is the decisive figure: if the connected equipment draws more than this, the UPS will overload and cannot protect the load. Match the total wattage of your devices to this limit before purchasing.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 5S 700LCD UPS and what step is often missed?

Plug the UPS into a 120 V wall outlet, connect equipment to the eight NEMA 5-15 outlets, then attach the USB cable to your computer and install the management software so the OS can trigger a graceful shutdown during an outage.

What maintenance will the 5S 700LCD need over its life?

The unit contains one lead-acid battery that typically requires replacement every three to five years; when the LCD shows a battery-warning icon or runtime drops noticeably, swap in a compatible replacement cartridge.

What limit appears first when the 5S 700LCD runs a continuous load?

The 420 watt real-power ceiling is reached before the 700 VA apparent-power rating, so sustained draws above 420 watts will trip the overload protection even if the VA figure is not exceeded.
