Power Extender Kit for ecobee thermostats

The ecobee EB-PEK2-01 Power Extender Kit enables installation of compatible ecobee smart thermostats in homes that lack a C or common wire. It supports the Smart Thermostat Premium, Enhanced, Essential, Lite, ecobee3 lite, Smart Thermostat with voice control, ecobee4 and ecobee3 models. This accessory solves the missing-wire requirement for these specific devices.

C-wire alternative for listed models

The kit provides the necessary power pathway so the thermostat can operate without a dedicated common wire connection. It changes the installation from impossible to feasible for the supported thermostat lineup. Buyers whose HVAC systems already include a C wire do not need this kit.

Questions about this item

Will the Power Extender Kit itself require any maintenance or replacement parts over time?

The kit is a passive wiring adapter with no moving parts or batteries, so it does not need scheduled maintenance or consumable replacements.

What is the first limitation that appears when the thermostat runs continuously on the extender kit?

The kit only supplies power to the thermostat; it does not add a common wire for the HVAC system, so equipment that requires a dedicated C-wire for continuous operation may still not function.
