Edifier G2 II USB 7.1 Gaming Headset

The Edifier G2 II is a wired over-ear gaming headset that connects through USB 2.0 and uses a built-in sound card to deliver 7.1 virtual surround sound. It weighs 490 grams and features 50 mm neodymium drivers tuned for positional audio in games. Active noise cancellation and a detachable omni-directional microphone aim to keep voice chat clear.

Competitive gamers who want lightweight USB audio

This headset suits players who favour a light frame for long sessions and need a simple USB connection on PC, PS4 or Mac. The 2.5 m cable reaches most desktop setups without extension. Buyers who need console support beyond PS4 or who want a detachable cable for easy replacement should consider other options.

50 mm drivers with 7.1 virtual surround

The 50 mm neodymium drivers produce a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz at 32 ohms impedance and 98 dB sensitivity. Edifier's software adds a 7.1 virtual speaker shifter, equaliser and microphone effects so the single USB link handles both audio and communication processing.

Questions about this item

Does the Edifier G2 II include everything needed for PC and PS4, or do I need a separate sound card or adapter?

The headset connects through its built-in USB 2.0 sound card, so no extra sound card is required; the 2.5 m cable reaches a desktop or console directly and the detachable microphone plugs into the headset itself.

The specs list both 24 Ω and 32 Ω impedance — which one applies to the Edifier G2 II I will receive?

The supplier data gives 24 Ω as the input impedance and 32 Ω in the detailed table; both refer to the same 50 mm neodymium drivers, so the headset you receive will present roughly 24–32 Ω to the USB audio device.

How does the 7.1 virtual surround actually help me locate footsteps or gunfire in a 360° soundscape?

The USB sound card processes the stereo signal into a 7.1 virtual speaker array, and the Edifier software lets you shift speaker angles and apply environment effects so directional cues like footsteps arrive from the correct horizontal plane around you.
