Retro boombox with CD, cassette and Bluetooth

The Emerson EPB-3005 is a portable boombox that plays CDs, cassettes and MP3 files from USB or SD cards. It also receives AM and FM radio and streams audio wirelessly via Bluetooth. Multicolour LED lighting illuminates the speaker drivers during playback. The unit suits listeners who want physical media and wireless convenience in one device.

Upgrade from single-format players

This model replaces a separate CD player, cassette deck and Bluetooth speaker. The jump is worth it when you still own CD-R or CD-RW discs and cassettes but also want to stream from a phone. Built-in AM/FM radio adds live broadcast listening without extra hardware. Buyers who only use streaming services or only need a compact speaker will not use the disc and tape mechanisms.

Fits on a shelf or tabletop with mains power

The boombox measures 19.25 by 8.20 by 7.75 inches and weighs 6.78 lbs. It runs from the supplied DC 14 V 2.5 A adapter and includes a 3.5 mm headphone jack for private listening. An auxiliary input lets you connect external sources. No batteries are mentioned, so portable use away from a mains outlet is not supported.

Questions about this item

What size surface is needed to place the 19.25 x 8.20 inch Emerson EPB-3005 boombox?

The unit measures 19.25 inches long by 8.20 inches wide, so a shelf or table at least that deep and wide will hold it without overhang.

How do I connect the 14V 2.5A power adapter and what mistake should I avoid?

Plug the DC barrel connector into the rear DC IN jack and then into a mains outlet; the common error is forcing the plug in upside down, which can bend the centre pin.

When will the 3.5mm headphone jack or the top-loading CD mechanism need service?

The headphone jack typically lasts years; clean it with contact spray if audio crackles. The CD laser lens may need a cleaning disc after heavy use, and the belt-drive can require replacement if discs stop spinning.
