Gen 2 or Gen 1 BIOS limit

The USB 3.0 link cannot sustain Gen 3 signalling, so the motherboard BIOS must be set to Gen 2 or Gen 1 when a graphics card is not detected. Bandwidth above Gen 2 is not supported by the cable assembly. The riser fits 1x, 4x, 8x, and 16x motherboard slots but will not deliver full Gen 3 throughput to the attached device.

Simple install with BIOS step

Installation requires plugging the riser into the motherboard slot, connecting the Molex power, and attaching the GPU to the riser board. The most common issue is a missing device in BIOS, which is resolved by lowering the slot speed to Gen 2 or Gen 1. No drivers or additional software are needed for the riser itself.
