Pack of ten 20 x 20 x 1.2 mm copper shims rated at 401 W/m·K for BGA CPU, GPU and memory cooling in consoles and laptops
This pack contains ten copper shims measuring 20 by 20 by 1.2 millimetres. They are intended for DIY cooling on BGA processors, graphics chips and memory modules in laptops, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, 3 and 4 consoles. The shims bridge gaps between dies and heatsinks where thermal paste alone is insufficient.
Each shim offers a stated thermal conductivity of 401 watts per metre-kelvin, far above the 20 to 30 watts per metre-kelvin of ordinary copper. The thin 1.2 millimetre profile suits tight clearances in laptop GPUs and console processors, but the fixed thickness cannot compensate for larger gaps or warped heatsinks.
The single deciding specification is the 1.2 millimetre height. If your repair needs a thinner or thicker spacer, these shims will not fit. They are sold as a ten-piece lot with no additional sizes included.

Each shim measures 20 mm by 20 mm and is 1.2 mm thick, a common gap size for many laptop BGA CPUs and GPUs; verify the exact clearance on your board before installing.
Reassemble the system, run a sustained load and monitor core temperatures; a noticeable drop compared with the previous thermal pad indicates the copper shim is conducting heat as intended.
The shims are bare copper; you will need a thin layer of thermal compound on each face to fill microscopic gaps, and no adhesive or paste is included in the lot.
