Adds a USB 3.2 20-pin header and extra USB 2.0 port via PCIe 2x–16x slot using ASMedia ASM3142 controller
This EN-Labs add-on card expands a desktop motherboard with a USB 3.2 20-pin internal header and an additional USB 2.0 Type-A female connector. It targets builders who need front-panel or rear-panel USB-C connectivity from a single PCIe slot. The board fits full-profile brackets and uses an ASMedia ASM3142 controller. It is not suited for systems that only offer a PCIe 1X slot.
The USB 3.2 20-pin A-Key header delivers up to 10 Gbps data transfer when the host provides a PCIe 3.0 x4 link; it remains backward compatible with PCIe 2.0 at reduced throughput. An extra USB 2.0 Type-A port adds a low-speed connection for peripherals such as licence dongles or wireless receivers. The card will not function in a PCIe 1X slot, so platforms limited to that width cannot use it.
The ASMedia ASM3142 master controller provides dedicated bandwidth for the USB 3.2 header through a PCIe 3.0 x4 interface. Solid capacitors and metal panel construction aim to improve electrical stability during sustained transfers. The 20-pin header uses a 180-degree orientation for straightforward cable routing inside the chassis. Installation requires the system to be powered off and unplugged to avoid shorting pins.

The card requires a PCIe x2, x4, x8 or x16 slot and will not function in a PCIe x1 slot.
Check the device manager or system profiler to confirm the controller enumerates as a USB 3.2 Gen 2 device, then run a benchmark with a compatible drive.
The card provides a 20-pin USB 3.2 header and an extra USB 2.0 Type-A port; a front-panel cable is not included and must be purchased separately.
