Passive Mini DisplayPort to DVI-D adapter drives monitors up to 1920×1200 and 1080p with no driver or extra power required
The EN-Labs PSMDP2DVI is a passive adapter that links a Mini DisplayPort or Thunderbolt source to a display with a DVI-D or DVI-I input. It suits users who need a simple video connection for a monitor, projector or HDTV without audio support.
This passive converter only functions when the source port supplies a native DVI-compatible signal through DP++ dual-mode operation. It will not work with a pure DisplayPort output that lacks the dual-mode capability, and it cannot actively translate the signal.
The adapter supports computer resolutions up to 1920×1200 and HDTV resolutions up to 1080p. Buyers who need higher resolutions such as 1440p or 4K must choose an active converter instead.

Yes, the passive converter passes a native 1920x1200 signal from a DP++ source to a DVI-D display with no driver or power required.
It requires a DisplayPort++ (DP++) source; a Thunderbolt port works because it carries DP++, but a DP++-only port is sufficient.
