USB-C to HDMI 4K cable for DP Alt Mode devices

This six-foot cable connects a USB-C computer, tablet or phone directly to an HDMI monitor, projector or TV. It works only when the source port supports DisplayPort Alternate Mode. Thunderbolt 3 hosts are compatible. No separate HDMI cable is required.

Plug-and-play with one critical check

The adapter needs no driver or software installation. Before purchasing, verify that the USB-C port on your device explicitly supports DP Alt Mode; MHL Alt Mode phones and tablets will not work. The cable carries digital audio and video together and offers both mirror and extend display modes.

4K at 30 Hz maximum resolution

Video output reaches 3840 by 2160 pixels at 30 Hz, with backward compatibility for 1080p, 720p and 480p signals. The cable has no charging port and cannot supply power to the host. Audio is not transmitted over DVI connections.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the 4K 30 Hz output is active after connecting the cable?

Open the display settings on your MacBook Pro 2017 or Dell XPS 13 and confirm the external monitor shows 3840 x 2160 at 30 Hz.

What is included in the box and what must I provide separately?

The box contains the 6 ft USB-C to HDMI male-to-male cable only; you must supply a USB-C device with DP Alt Mode and an HDMI-equipped display.

Which cable version should I choose for a Thunderbolt 3 laptop that needs 4K 30 Hz?

This single 6 ft black model supports Thunderbolt 3 hosts and delivers up to 4K 30 Hz, so no other version is required.
