Purpose-built handset

The EnGenius DURAFON ROAM-HC is a 900 MHz digital cordless handset designed for the DuraFon ROAM system. It serves as both a long-range phone and a two-way radio for teams needing reliable voice coverage across large sites. The package includes a charging cradle, AC adapter, battery pack and two antennas for flexible deployment.

Installation reality

Setup is straightforward: connect the cradle to power, insert the battery pack and choose the high-performance or low-profile antenna for the environment. Call hand-off between base units is automatic once the system is configured. The only common snag is forgetting to register the handset to the correct base before first use.

Sustained load behaviour

Under continuous use the handset delivers six hours of talk time or fifty hours on standby before needing a recharge. The 900 MHz band maintains stable audio through walls and across floors during extended shifts. Battery performance remains consistent over repeated daily cycles without the short-burst optimism seen in some DECT alternatives.
