  • Fan-less design enables silent operation in any environment
  • Flexible desktop or surface-mount installation fits diverse deployments

Power delivery and data rate

The EnGenius EPA5090XBT is a single-port PoE++ injector that supplies up to 90W over four wire pairs while passing 10Gb Ethernet traffic. It targets installers who need to power high-draw wireless access points, cameras or access-control gear through a single cable run.

Compatibility fit

The unit auto-detects the attached device’s power requirement and remains backward compatible with 802.3af and 802.3at equipment, so legacy endpoints can share the same infrastructure. Buyers whose switches already provide 90W PoE on every port, or who require multi-port midspan injection, should look at alternative power architectures.

Deciding specification

The injector is IEEE 802.3bt Type 3 and 4 compliant and supports link speeds of 10, 100, 1000 Mbps and 2.5, 5, 10 Gbps, making the 90W power budget combined with 10Gb throughput the single figure that determines whether this model matches the deployment.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 90 W model or a lower-wattage injector?

Choose the 90 W unit when the device you are powering needs up to 90 W over four pairs; lower-wattage injectors cannot deliver that level.

What does the 10 Gbps rating mean once the injector is installed?

The injector passes 10 Gbps Ethernet through its single port, so the connected access point or camera can run at full 10 Gbps line rate.

Which PoE standard does it use and what power does that cap at?

It follows IEEE 802.3bt Type 3 and 4, capping output at 90 W with auto-detection for the attached device.
