32.4 Gbps bandwidth with 8K 60 Hz

The cable carries up to 32.4 Gbps using HBR3 and DSC 1.2, enabling 8K at 60 Hz and 4K at 144 Hz. It also handles 4K at 120 Hz, 2K at 165 Hz and 2K at 240 Hz. Bandwidth runs out beyond 8K 60 Hz, so higher refresh rates at 8K are not supported.

Upgrades older DisplayPort 1.2 or 1.3 links

Replacing a 1.2 or 1.3 cable removes the bottleneck that caps 4K at 60 Hz and adds HDR10 and DSC 1.2 support. The jump is worth it when moving to a 4K high-refresh monitor or an 8K display. It does not help if the source or sink remains limited to 1.2 signalling.
