Cable purpose and audience

The ESTONE Essager CGA7A is a USB-A to USB-C cable built for charging and data transfer. It suits owners of laptops, phones, tablets, Switch or Steam Deck who need a single 6.6ft lead for both tasks.

Practical limits of USB 2.0

The cable carries USB 2.0 signals at 480Mbps, so large files move slower than on USB 3.0 or 4.0 links. It does not support video output, so external displays cannot be driven through this lead.

Installation and common issues

Plug the USB-A end into a host port and the USB-C end into the device; no driver is required. The aluminium-alloy shells and nylon braid resist wear, but the 7A e-marker chip must match the charger protocol or power will fall back to a lower rate.

Questions about this item

Which length should I pick, 1 m or 2 m?

The cable is offered in 1 m and 2 m versions; choose the shorter one for desk use or the longer one when the power socket is farther away.

What does the 100 W rating mean when I plug it into my laptop?

It can deliver up to 100 W through USB Power Delivery, QC, AFC or FCP, so a 2022 MacBook Pro can reach 90-100 % charge in about 1.5 hours.

The cable uses USB 2.0 — what does that cap in practice?

Data transfer tops out at 480 Mbps, enough to move a 1 GB file in roughly 30 seconds, but it cannot carry video or reach USB 3.0, 4.0 or Thunderbolt speeds.
