Connects an HDMI source to a VGA display with an integrated micro-USB power cable for low-power devices
This adapter converts a digital HDMI signal to an analog VGA output, letting you link laptops, desktops or a Raspberry Pi to older monitors, projectors or HDTVs. A built-in active IC chip handles the conversion and an attached Micro-USB cable supplies extra power when the source device has a low-power HDMI port.
Gold-plated HDMI connectors resist corrosion and maintain a stable connection up to the maximum supported resolution of 1920x1080 at 60Hz, including 720p and 1600x1200 modes. The short 4-inch pigtail reduces strain on the host port, while the Micro-USB lead draws only the supplementary current needed for low-power outputs.
The 10-foot cable length gives flexibility for routing between a computer and a ceiling-mounted projector or distant display without signal boosters. A 3.5 mm audio jack is present for stereo output where the source supports it, though the adapter itself carries no audio over HDMI. The unit is HDCP compliant but will not pass protected content such as Blu-ray playback.

Plug the HDMI male end into the laptop and the VGA female end into the monitor cable; then connect the micro USB cord to a power source, otherwise low-power HDMI ports may not drive the active converter.
The micro USB power lead or the short strain-relief cable near the HDMI plug can fray after repeated bending; the gold-plated connectors themselves are corrosion-resistant.
The built-in active chip caps output at 1920x1080 60 Hz, so sustained use cannot exceed 1080p even if the source offers higher modes.
