What this converter does

The ESTONE HDMI2SDI takes one HDMI source and sends it to two SDI displays at once. It handles HDMI 1.3a input up to 1080p at 60 Hz with embedded audio and outputs dual 3G-SDI or HD-SDI signals automatically. The unit is built for broadcast, CCTV, conferencing and long-haul video runs where SDI cabling is already in place.

The spec that decides fit

The converter only accepts the listed HDMI timings — 480i, 480p, 576i, 576p, 720p at 50 or 60 Hz, 1080i at 50 or 60 Hz, and 1080p at 24, 25, 30, 50 or 60 Hz — and will not lock to other refresh rates or resolutions. If your camera or source outputs anything outside that table, the device will not pass a signal.

Installation notes

No external power supply is required; the unit draws what it needs from the HDMI source, so a single cable run powers it. Connect the HDMI input, attach up to two BNC cables for SDI output, and the front LED confirms lock. The most common issue is feeding an unsupported HDMI mode — verify your source matches the supported list before assuming a fault.

Questions about this item

What does the 1080p 60Hz output mean for my SDI workflow?

The converter takes HDMI up to 1080p 60Hz and delivers two identical 3G-SDI streams at 2.97 Gbit/s, so each monitor or recorder gets a full-resolution feed without scaling.

How does the HDMI 1.3 input limit what I can connect?

HDMI 1.3 caps the source at 1080p 60Hz 8-bit; higher frame rates, 4K or deep-colour signals will not be accepted.

What mounting space and power does the unit need?

It measures 5.83 x 4.49 x 2.44 inches, weighs 7.8 ounces, and draws power from the HDMI source so no external supply is required.
