Two-PC USB-C KVM Switch

The ESTONE OZK8 lets two USB-C computers share one DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 monitor, seven USB 2.0 peripherals, a 3.5 mm audio jack and a 100 Mbit Ethernet link. It supports video up to 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz with DSC, plus 4K at 144 Hz and 1080p at 165 Hz. Switching is done by a front-panel button with a three-second auto-scan option. The unit ships with two 1.2 m USB-C Gen 2 cables and requires the supplied USB-C to USB-A cable for power.

Check Your Hosts and Cables

Both computers must provide video, data and up to 100 W Power Delivery over a single USB-C port compatible with Thunderbolt 3, Thunderbolt 4 or USB 3.2 Gen 2. You need a DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 cable rated for 8K 60 Hz or 4K 144 Hz to reach the highest modes. The KVM only passes USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps, so high-speed storage will not run at full rate. HDCP 2.3 is supported for protected content.

Ideal for Dual-Laptop Desks, Not High-Speed Storage

This switch suits users who move between two USB-C laptops or a laptop and a desktop while keeping one monitor, keyboard, mouse, printer and wired network connected. It is not for setups that need USB 3.x or USB4 peripheral bandwidth, Thunderbolt daisy-chaining, or more than two computer inputs. Buyers without USB-C video-capable ports on both machines should look at something else.

Questions about this item

What cables and accessories are included in the box with the ESTONE OZK8 KVM switch?

The package contains the KVM switch, two 1.2 meter USB-C Gen 2 cables and a user manual. You must supply your own DisplayPort or HDMI cable to connect the monitor, and a USB-C to USB-A cable to power the switch.

Which video output should I use — DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 — for the highest refresh rate at 4K?

Both ports support 4K at 144 Hz with DSC. DisplayPort 1.4 provides 32.4 Gbps bandwidth while HDMI 2.1 provides 48 Gbps; choose the one that matches your monitor’s input for the best compatibility.

What does the 8K 60 Hz headline figure mean for my actual display setup?

The switch can output 7680 × 4320 at 60 Hz over DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.1 using DSC compression. Your monitor, cables and source GPU must all support DSC and the chosen interface to achieve that mode.
