Resolution Limits of HDMI 2.1 and DP 1.4

Video bandwidth tops out at 8K 60Hz or 4K 120Hz when the source, monitor and cables all meet the relevant 2.1 or 1.4 specification. Lower resolutions such as 4K 60Hz, 2K 144Hz, 1080P and 720P are also supported. Without full-chain compliance the highest refresh rates cannot be reached.
