Four-computer HDMI KVM switch

The ESTONE SW240-HD lets four computers or laptops share a single monitor, keyboard, mouse and up to four USB 3.0 peripherals. It is suited to professionals, gamers and home-office users who need to control multiple systems from one desk without unplugging cables.

HDMI 2.0 bandwidth limits

Video output reaches 4K at 60 Hz or 2K at 120 Hz over the HDMI 2.0 link, so higher refresh rates at 4K are not possible. USB 3.0 ports run at 5 Gbps, which caps the speed of attached storage or other high-throughput devices. The unit switches only by push button or IR remote; there is no hot-key or software trigger.

Rear-facing ports and external power

All HDMI and USB connectors face the rear, keeping the desktop clear of cable clutter. A 12 V 1 A external power adapter is required for stable operation with four connected systems. The switch includes four USB 3.0 A-to-A cables, an IR receiver cable, a remote control (battery not supplied) and a user manual.

Questions about this item

Which configuration of the ESTONE SW240-HD should I pick for four computers and one monitor?

The switch is a fixed 4-port HDMI 2.0 KVM with a single monitor output and four USB 3.0 ports; there are no alternative versions or capacities to choose from.

What does the 4K 60Hz rating mean when I connect this switch to my display?

The HDMI 2.0 link supports a maximum resolution of 4K at 60 Hz, so a compatible monitor will show up to that resolution and refresh rate.

How does the HDMI 2.0 interface limit the video signal in practice?

HDMI 2.0 caps the link at 4K 60 Hz and 2K 120 Hz, so higher refresh rates at 4K or resolutions above 4K are not possible through this switch.
