What this cable is and who needs it

The ESTONE TJ-A285 is a DisplayPort 2.0 cable built for owners of 16K or high-refresh 4K displays. It carries 80 Gbps bandwidth and supports HDR, DSC 1.2a, HDCP 2.2 and DPCP 1.0. The 3.3 ft male-to-male link is backward compatible with DP 1.4 and 1.2 hardware.

Installation notes and common pitfalls

Plug the male DisplayPort 2.0 connectors into matching ports on the graphics card and monitor; the 20-pin is disabled so no power feeds through the cable. Ensure both source and sink actually support the target refresh rate, otherwise the link will fall back to a lower mode. The triple-shielded solid-copper construction resists interference but offers no latch release button.

Practical limits of the DisplayPort 2.0 interface

The standard tops out at 80 Gbps using UHBR10, enabling 16K at 60 Hz or 4K at 240 Hz with DSC compression. Without host and panel support for UHBR10 the cable operates at legacy HBR3 speeds. Cable length beyond 3.3 ft may require active signal conditioning to keep the full 80 Gbps rate.
