What this cable is

The ESTONE TJ-A285BK is a 10 ft DisplayPort 2.1 cable rated for up to 80 Gbps bandwidth. It carries video from a DisplayPort source to a DisplayPort display with male-to-male connectors. The cable supports HDR, DSC 1.2a, HDCP 2.2 and DP++ in a triple-shielded, braided construction with gold-plated terminals.

Who should use it and who should not

It suits gamers and creators driving 4K monitors at 144 Hz, 165 Hz or 240 Hz, or 8K panels at 60 Hz or 120 Hz, provided the graphics card and display both support those modes. Buyers whose hardware only offers HDMI outputs, or who need a longer run than 10 ft, will not be able to use this cable.

The specification that decides fit

The single deciding factor is the 80 Gbps DisplayPort 2.1 link: if your GPU and monitor both implement DP 2.1 with UHBR20, the cable can deliver 4K at 240 Hz or 8K at 120 Hz with DSC; if either end is limited to DP 1.4 or lower, the maximum resolution and refresh rate will fall back to that older standard.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 10 ft DisplayPort 2.1 cable and what step is often missed?

Connect the male DisplayPort 2.1 connectors to the GPU and monitor ports, then select Copy or Expand display mode in Windows display settings so the external screen is recognised.

What maintenance or replacement will the ESTONE TJ-A285BK cable need over time?

The triple-shielded braided cable with solid copper conductors and gold-plated aluminium shells needs no scheduled maintenance; replace only if physical damage or signal loss occurs.

What limit appears first during sustained high-refresh gaming at 4K 240 Hz?

The 80 Gbps bandwidth ceiling and DSC 1.2a compression define the maximum sustained throughput for 4K 240 Hz or 8K 120 Hz signals.
