What it is

The ESTONE TJ-TDP16K is a 3.3 ft bi-directional cable with a Mini DisplayPort 2.1 male connector on one end and a standard DisplayPort 2.1 male connector on the other. It is built for users who need to link a laptop or desktop equipped with a Mini DP port to a monitor, TV or projector that uses a full-size DP input. Gold-plated contacts and a triple-shielded, cotton-braided jacket provide durable, corrosion-resistant performance.

Build fit

The cable plugs directly into Mini DP outputs found on many MacBooks, ultrabooks and compact workstations, and into standard DP inputs on high-resolution displays. No adapter or external power is required, so it keeps a desk setup tidy and frees up a Thunderbolt port for other peripherals. Because it is bi-directional, the same cable can also drive a Mini DP monitor from a full-size DP source, provided the monitor’s Mini DP port accepts video input.

Capacity and headroom

VESA-certified DisplayPort 2.1 bandwidth of 80 Gbps supports 16K at 60 Hz, 8K at 120 Hz and 4K at 240 Hz, along with HDR10, Dolby Vision and 10-bit deep colour. The copper conductors handle 32.4 Gbps HBR3 rates for backward-compatible modes such as 4K at 144 Hz or 2K at 240 Hz. The 3.3 ft length suits close-range connections; longer runs or higher aggregate bandwidth beyond 80 Gbps would need an active or fibre solution.

Questions about this item

Will the 80 Gbps bandwidth hold up during an all-day 16K@60Hz session?

The cable is rated for 80 Gbps, matching the DisplayPort 2.1 UHBR10 specification required for 16K@60Hz.

Does the 3.3 ft braided cable run warm or add noise when driving 8K@120Hz continuously?

Passive copper construction with triple-layer shielding produces no heat or noise regardless of resolution or refresh rate.

Must my laptop already have a Mini DisplayPort 2.1 port to use this cable?

Yes, the source needs a Mini DisplayPort 2.1 output; the cable is also compatible with Thunderbolt 1 and Thunderbolt 2 ports.
