SFF-8654 4i 38 Pin SAS 4.0 Cable 50cm
This internal cable connects a Slim SAS SFF-8654 4i host controller to a Slim Line SAS target backplane in servers, data storage arrays and workstations. It is built for new installations that require the 38-pin Ultraport SlimSAS form factor and the 50cm length.
SAS 4.0 24Gbps per channel
The cable meets the SAS 4.0 specification and delivers 24Gbps per channel across four lanes, while also supporting PCIe Gen3 at 8GT/s per lane. This bandwidth rating is the single figure that determines whether the link matches the controller and backplane capabilities.
Passive copper assembly
As a passive copper cable it adds no active components to the signal path, so power draw and noise are negligible in normal operation. Thermals are limited to the ambient temperature inside the chassis.
How it compares

Questions about this item
What does the 24 Gbps per channel mean when the cable is installed in a server?
Each of the four lanes carries up to 24 Gbps for SAS traffic or 8 GT/s for PCIe traffic, so a single cable provides four independent 24 Gbps SAS links between a controller and a backplane.
Which SAS standard does the SFF-8654 connector implement and what throughput limit does it set?
The cable meets the SAS 4.0 specification, which defines the 24 Gbps per lane signalling rate and the 38-pin SFF-8654 connector geometry used here.
What physical clearance does the 50 cm SFF-8654 to SFF-8654 assembly need inside a chassis?
The 50 cm length and slim 38-pin connectors are designed for tight server bays; allow enough space for the straight plug ends and the cable bend radius when routing between a controller and a backplane.
