Two-computer VGA sharing

The Explus-C 260KL is a two-port VGA KVM switch that lets a pair of computers share one monitor, keyboard, mouse, a single USB flash drive, printer or USB-powered speaker. It is aimed at users who need simple desktop switching without audio-jack support or mechanical keyboard compatibility.

Passive operation and cable reach

The unit draws power from the attached USB connections so it adds no separate power draw, fan noise or heat to the desk. Each of the two included cables measures 1.2 metres and carries both VGA video and USB data, keeping the host systems within close range of the switch.

Metal enclosure and fixed cabling

A compact metal housing protects the internal circuitry while the moulded cable ends plug directly into each computer's VGA and USB ports. The fixed 1.2-metre leads mean the switch sits near the monitor, and the lack of 3.5-millimetre audio or docking-station support limits use to basic USB peripherals and analogue video.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the 1.2 m cables to my two PCs so the switch shares one monitor, keyboard and mouse?

Plug each VGA connector and its USB pigtail into the matching video and USB ports on each computer, then attach the shared monitor, keyboard and mouse to the console ports on the switch.

Will I need to replace the integrated 1.2 m cables if they wear out?

The cables are permanently attached to the switch; if a cable fails the whole unit must be replaced.

Does the 1920 x 1440 limit hold during long sessions or does the signal degrade?

The switch is passive and supports 1920 x 1440 with DDC continuously; signal quality depends on cable length and source strength, not on the switch itself.
