Shares one USB device between two computers with a single button press and LED status indicators
This compact KVM switch lets two computers share a single USB 2.0 device or powered hub with a single button press. LED indicators show which system currently has control of the connected peripheral.
The switch works without drivers on any USB-enabled computer running Windows, Mac or Linux. It draws power from the host ports and is not recommended for devices that require the full 500 mA bus power or for mass storage such as hard drives and flash drives.
Two 59 inch (1.5 m) USB A-to-A cables connect the switch to each computer, while the peripheral or hub attaches directly to the switch. The compact form factor keeps desk clutter low and frees up ports on both machines.

Connect the two included 59in cables from the switch to each computer, plug your USB 2.0 device into the switch, then press the button to select the active computer; the step often missed is installing any drivers the attached device itself needs on both computers.
The switch has no moving parts or consumables, so it needs no scheduled maintenance; only the two 1.5m USB cables or the attached peripheral might need replacement if they wear out.
The 500mA bus-power limit per USB 2.0 port is the first constraint; devices drawing the full 500mA are not recommended, and mass-storage devices should not be switched at all.
