Outdoor Wi-Fi 6 Access Point

The Extreme Networks AP460C-FCC is a tri-radio outdoor access point built for Wi-Fi 6 networks in harsh environments. It carries an IP67 rating and operates reliably from sub-zero temperatures through hurricane-force winds. The unit uses an internal omnidirectional antenna and is aimed at organisations that need rugged outdoor coverage without sacrificing modern 802.11ax performance.

Cloud and Controller Management

Management runs through ExtremeCloud IQ for public or private cloud deployments, with ExtremeCloud IQ Controller or VX/NX appliances available for on-premises requirements. Optional visibility features are also supported via an on-premises controller. These software layers handle configuration, monitoring and AI-driven analytics so administrators can manage the AP remotely without visiting the mount point.

Tri-Radio Limits and Antenna Variants

The AP460C runs 2.4 GHz at 2x2:2 and two 5 GHz radios at 4x4:4 simultaneously, while a third radio acts as a dedicated dual-band sensor. Software-selectable radios allow dual 5 GHz operation, but the fixed internal omni pattern cannot be changed after installation. Buyers who need sector coverage must choose the separate 60° or 120° sector models instead.

Questions about this item

Will the internal omnidirectional antennas on the AP460C-FCC need periodic replacement?

The AP460C-FCC uses fixed internal omnidirectional antennas; there are no user-serviceable antenna parts to replace.

Which radio chain hits its throughput ceiling first when both 5 GHz radios run at 4x4:4?

Each 5 GHz radio supports 4x4:4 data rates, so the backhaul or PoE budget typically limits sustained throughput before the radio chains do.

How much fan noise does the AP460C-FCC produce when mounted in direct sunlight all day?

The IP67-sealed enclosure has no moving parts, so it runs silently regardless of ambient temperature.
