High-efficiency 802.11ax access point
The Extreme Networks AP510CX-WW is a dual-band indoor wireless access point built for business environments. It delivers aggregate data rates up to 4.80 Gbit/s across the 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz bands. Software-defined dual 5 GHz radios improve capacity in dense deployments. Integrated Bluetooth and Zigbee radios support IoT and guest engagement services.
Upgrade from single-radio or legacy Wi-Fi
Replacing older single-radio or pre-802.11ax access points adds the second 5 GHz radio and higher aggregate throughput for crowded venues. The jump is worth it when client density exceeds the capacity of a single 5 GHz radio or when IoT services require on-board Bluetooth and Zigbee. Networks that already run modern dual-5 GHz 802.11ax hardware will see less relative gain.
Limits of the 802.11ax dual-band platform
Aggregate throughput of 4.80 Gbit/s is a theoretical maximum shared across all connected clients and both bands. Real-world throughput per client depends on channel width, spatial streams, interference and client capability. The two RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet ports cap wired backhaul at 1 Gbit/s each, so total wired ingress cannot exceed that link speed. Stateful L2-L7 DPI firewall inspection adds processing latency that scales with rule complexity and traffic volume.

Questions about this item
What mounting hardware does the AP510CX-WW require for indoor installation?
The AP510CX-WW is an indoor wireless access point with external antennas; it mounts on standard ceiling or wall brackets using the included hardware kit, and the two RJ-45 Gigabit ports face downward for clean cable routing.
How is the AP510CX-WW powered and configured during initial setup?
Connect one RJ-45 port to a PoE+ switch or injector; the AP510CX-WW draws power over Ethernet, then adopts configuration from an ExtremeCloud IQ or on-premise controller — skipping the controller step leaves the radios offline.
When should the external antennas on the AP510CX-WW be inspected or replaced?
Inspect the dual-band external antennas annually for physical damage or loosened connectors; replace them if the 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz coverage drops below the 4.8 Gbps aggregate throughput target in dense environments.
