Software License for VDX6740/6740T

This software license activates two 40G ports on compatible Extreme VDX6740 or VDX6740T switches. It is designed for network administrators who need to expand high-speed connectivity within their existing fabric infrastructure.

Sustained Operation Characteristics

Once applied the license enables the additional ports permanently without recurring validation. The switch hardware manages the 40G throughput under continuous load according to its own thermal and ASIC design limits.

Pre-Installation Checks

Confirm the target switch is a VDX6740 or VDX6740T model running a firmware version that supports this license entitlement. Verify you have administrative credentials to install the license file through the management interface.

Questions about this item

How much additional power draw should I expect when the two 40G ports are running continuously?

The licence itself adds no power draw; the extra consumption comes from the 40G optics you install in the VDX6740 or VDX6740T switch.

What hardware must I already own before this licence can be used?

You need an Extreme VDX6740 or VDX6740T switch with an available pod slot to apply the 2-port 40G entitlement.

Will the newly licensed 40G ports work alongside the existing 40G interfaces on my VDX6740T?

Yes, the licence simply enables two more 40G ports on the same VDX6740 or VDX6740T chassis, operating with the same firmware and management.
