Purpose-built 5G router

The Sierra Wireless AirLink XR90 1105218 is a dual-band wireless router supporting Wi-Fi 6E and IEEE 802.11ax. It delivers cellular connectivity through 5G, LTE and HSPA+ with dual SIM capability. Four Ethernet ports and one broadband port provide wired connections.

Fixed-site and vehicle deployments

This router suits public safety fleets and transit systems needing dual-5G radios and dual independent 4x4 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6 antennas. It also fits organisations requiring ALMS out-of-band management and cartridge-based expandability. Buyers wanting a basic home or small-office router without cellular failover should look elsewhere.

Dual 5G cellular radios

The defining specification is the availability of dual-5G cellular radios combined with dual independent 4x4 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6E antennas. This configuration determines whether the XR90 meets the throughput and redundancy needs of mission-critical mobile networks.

Questions about this item

How do I install the cartridge-based modem and which orientation mistake should I avoid?

Slide the modem cartridge into the front bay until it clicks, then secure the latch; the common error is inserting it upside-down so the SIM slots face away from the label side.

Which parts will need replacement after extended deployment?

The dual-5G modem cartridges and the four external 4x4 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi 6E antennas are the field-replaceable items; the router chassis itself has no user-serviceable fans or batteries.

At what point does sustained throughput hit its ceiling?

The wireless link tops out at 307.20 MB/s aggregate across both 2.40 GHz and 5 GHz bands, so prolonged heavy traffic will saturate at that rate before the wired Ethernet ports become the bottleneck.
