The Fans G2D180-BD18-11/13 is an original Ebmpapst unit built for inverter cooling in medical, rail, industrial and new-energy vehicle applications. Its 180 mm frame houses a 68 motor driving an unpainted galvanized steel impeller inside a die-cast aluminum housing. The counterclockwise rotation and open rotor design suit OEM integration where a purpose-built airflow path already exists.

Ball-bearing construction and insulation class F support continuous S1 duty across the stated environmental protection classes F1-1 and H0+. The IP00 rating means the motor has no ingress protection, so acoustic and thermal performance depend entirely on the enclosure or ductwork the integrator provides. No condenser or drainage holes are present, leaving condensation management to the surrounding system design.

Build Quality and Mounting Implications

At 4.1 kg the die-cast aluminum housing adds structural rigidity but requires secure mounting in any orientation. The absence of IP sealing and drainage holes limits use to clean, dry cabinets or custom ducting that shields the open rotor. Integrators must provide their own finger guards, filtration and vibration isolation because the bare impeller and unpainted surfaces expose moving parts and raw metal to the immediate environment.
