Questions about this item

How do I install the touchpad button board in my HP 15-G series laptop, and which step do people often get wrong?

Disconnect the battery, remove the palm rest, unplug the old board ribbon cable, fit the new board with part number 749651-001, then reconnect the cable before reassembling; the step most often missed is forgetting to disconnect the battery first.

What maintenance or replacement will this touchpad button board need later?

The board has no moving parts to service; if the buttons stop clicking or the ribbon cable fails, the whole board is replaced as a single unit.

What limit appears first when the touchpad button board is used continuously?

The mechanical button switches are rated for a finite number of presses; heavy daily use will wear the click mechanism before any electronic component fails.
