A USB 3.0 external drive reads and writes Blu-ray, DVD and CD media while adding a hub, SD and TF card slots for laptops and desktops
The FANTEC 7-in-1 unit combines a Blu-ray and HD DVD player with a USB 3.0 hub and SD/TF card reader. It draws power from the host port so no external adapter is needed. The drive reads and writes CDs and DVDs and works with Windows 10 and 11, Windows 7 and 8, Linux and Mac OS. It is not compatible with iPad, phones, Chromebook, TV, cars or standalone Blu-ray players.
Bus power from a USB 3.0 port keeps the device running without a separate supply. The slim enclosure stays cool during typical read or write sessions. Mechanical noise is limited to the spinning disc and tray operation. Maximum DVD read and write speed reaches 8x while CD read speed reaches 24x. The interface falls back to USB 2.0 when a faster port is unavailable.
A single USB 3.0 cable handles both data and power for a tidy desk setup. The integrated hub adds extra USB ports for peripherals while the card slot accepts SD or TF media one at a time. The lightweight chassis fits easily in a laptop bag for mobile use. Buyers who need Blu-ray recording or simultaneous dual-card access will need a different device.

Connect the drive to a USB 3.0 port; Windows 11 will detect it automatically with no driver required. The step users miss is using a USB 2.0 port, which limits the 8x DVD and 24x CD speeds.
The optical pickup that reads Blu-ray, DVD and CD discs is the only moving component that degrades over time; the USB 3.0 hub and SD/TF card slots have no moving parts.
The 8x maximum DVD write speed is the ceiling; sustained sessions cannot exceed it, and the USB 2.0 fallback cuts throughput further if a 3.0 port is not used.
