External Blu-ray & HD DVD Player

The FANTEC Amicool is an external optical drive that reads Blu-ray and HD DVD discs and burns CDs and DVDs. It connects through a USB 3.0 Type-C port and draws power from the host, so no separate adapter is needed. The drive works with Windows, macOS and Linux without extra drivers.

Plug-and-play USB 3.0 optical drive

It suits anyone who needs to read Blu-ray or HD DVD media and write CDs or DVDs on a laptop, desktop or MacBook that lacks an internal drive. The USB 3.0 interface is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.0 ports. It is not for buyers who need to write Blu-ray discs or who require an internal drive bay installation.

USB 3.0 Type-C connectivity

The single specification that decides fit is the USB 3.0 Type-C connection with a maximum data rate of 5 Gbps. The drive must be plugged into a motherboard USB port on desktop systems. If your device only offers a different port type, this unit will not connect directly.
