Dual-side card printer for ID issuance

The Fargo DTC1250e prints on both sides of a card using dye-sublimation and resin thermal transfer. It accepts CR-80 and CR-79 cards from 0.009 to .040 inches thick. Input capacity is 100 cards and the output hopper holds up to 30 cards. It connects via USB for direct integration with existing workstations.

Compact design with integrated cleaning

The printer measures 3.36 by 2.11 inches print area on CR-80 media and 3.30 by 2.04 inches on CR-79. A cleaning roller is built into each ribbon cartridge so maintenance happens automatically during ribbon changes. The 32 MB RAM buffer handles print jobs without slowing the host computer. Edge-to-edge coverage ensures full-surface graphics on every credential.

Upgrade from single-side or slower desktop units

Organisations moving from one-sided printers gain immediate throughput for dual-sided badges without adding a second device. The jump is worth it when batch volumes exceed what a 24-second YMCKOK cycle can sustain on older hardware. Buyers who need magnetic-stripe encoding or higher input capacity should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

What interface does the DTC1250e use and what throughput limit does that impose?

The printer connects via USB, so data transfer speed is limited by the USB bus rather than an internal network controller.

What physical card dimensions and thickness range does the DTC1250e accept?

It handles CR-80 cards at 85.6 mm by 54 mm and CR-79 adhesive cards at 84.1 mm by 52.4 mm, with a thickness range of 0.009 to 0.040 inch.

How is the DTC1250e installed and which step is most often missed?

Install the Swift ID™ embedded badging application, connect the USB cable, load ribbon and cards into the 100-card input hopper, then run a cleaning card through the integrated roller — skipping the cleaning step is the most common oversight.
