Home office cross-cut shredder

The Fellowes 79Ci is a security level-3 cross-cut shredder built for home office use. It shreds 14 sheets of A4 paper per pass into 3.9 x 38 mm particles and handles credit cards, staples, paper clips and CDs or DVDs. A 23 L pull-out bin collects the waste for easy emptying. The 100% Jam Proof system prevents paper jams during operation.

SilentShred and energy efficiency

SilentShred technology keeps noise to 54 dB at no load for quiet performance in shared spaces. The Energy Savings System optimises power consumption while the unit runs. Maximum run time is 20 minutes on followed by 30 minutes off, with continuous shredding up to 12 minutes. SafeSense technology stops the shredder immediately when hands touch the paper entry.

Desk-friendly dimensions and safety

The shredder measures 21.31 x 15.38 x 10.44 inches and weighs 28.22 lbs, fitting on a desk or beside it. Traditional feed and a pull-out bin simplify daily use. It suits buyers who need to destroy mixed media securely without a high-volume departmental machine. It does not serve users who require continuous-duty operation or larger bin capacity for heavy daily loads.

Questions about this item

How do I set up the 79Ci and what is the step most people miss?

Plug it in, switch the power on, and wait for the ready light before feeding paper; the step often missed is letting the SafeSense sensor calibrate with the bin fully inserted so it stops instantly when hands touch the entry.

What maintenance will the 79Ci need over time?

Oil the cutting blades with official shredder oil every few weeks or after heavy use; empty the 23 L pull-out bin before it reaches the full line and wipe dust from the entry sensors to keep the jam-proof system reliable.

What limit appears first during a long shredding session?

The motor runs for 20 minutes then requires a 30-minute cool-down; if you feed the maximum 14 sheets per pass continuously you will hit that thermal limit before the bin fills.
