Right-angled 9-pin RS-232 adapter connects a DB9 male plug to a thumbscrew female socket at 90 degrees
This Fervit modular adapter converts a straight DB9 port into an upward-facing 90-degree connection. It fits legacy serial equipment that still relies on the RS-232 interface. The male end uses screw nuts while the female end uses thumbscrews for tool-free securing. Two rows of nine pins preserve the full pin density of the original port.
The upward angle routes the cable away from neighbouring ports, rack rails or chassis walls where a straight connector would collide. It replaces a straight-through gender changer or a bulky right-angle cable when clearance is tight. The jump is worth it whenever a straight DB9 plug cannot be fully seated or would stress the port.
Verify that the host port is a male DB9 and that the cable or device you are attaching has a female DB9 socket. Confirm the 90-degree up angle points the cable in the required direction; a down-angled or side-angled version would be needed for other layouts. Ensure thumbscrew clearance exists above the port for the female end.

The right-angled body projects upward from the mating face so allow at least the adapter height plus cable bend radius behind the DB9P socket.
Tighten the two thumbscrews on the female DB9P socket by hand then use a small spanner on the male hex nuts to prevent the adapter rotating when cables are fitted.
Replace it if any of the nine contacts are bent, corroded or no longer make firm contact, or if the thumbscrews or hex nuts strip and cannot hold the mated connectors.
