Desktop DAC and amplifier

The FiiO K5 Pro ESS is a desktop digital-to-analogue converter and headphone amplifier designed for listeners who want higher-resolution playback from a computer or digital source. It accepts USB, optical, coaxial and RCA inputs and provides a 6.35 mm headphone output plus adjustable RCA line outputs for powered speakers or an external amplifier.

ES9038PRO DAC with 768 kHz and DSD512 support

The ES9038PRO DAC chip handles PCM up to 768 kHz at 32-bit and native DSD512, while optical and coaxial inputs accept up to 192 kHz. The XMOS XUF208 USB interface ensures stable asynchronous data transfer from the host device.

1.5 W into 32 Ω and 20 Vpp into 300 Ω

The amplifier delivers up to 1.5 W into a 32 Ω load and swings 20 Vpp into 300 Ω, giving ample headroom for most low- and high-impedance headphones. Very low-sensitivity models or demanding planar designs may still require more voltage or current than this unit provides.

Questions about this item

What does 1.5 W into 32 ohms mean for everyday headphones?

That power level drives most portable and desktop headphones to loud volumes without distortion, even low-impedance models.

What does the USB XUF208 chip actually limit?

It handles PCM up to 768 kHz and native DSD up to DSD256, so those are the highest rates you can stream from a computer.

Will the 6.35 mm jack fit my headphones without an adapter?

Yes — the front panel uses a standard 6.35 mm (1/4 in.) socket, so any headphone with a 6.35 mm plug connects directly.
