Purpose and audience

This active DisplayPort to HDMI adapter connects a DP-equipped laptop or desktop to an HDMI display. It suits users who need to add a monitor, TV or projector for extended or mirrored desktops.

Fit and limits

The adapter handles video up to 3840x2160 at 60Hz and uncompressed 7.1, 5.1 or 2-channel audio. It is not for buyers who need a passive cable, a reverse HDMI-to-DP direction, or higher refresh rates at that resolution.

Install and pitfalls

Plug the adapter into the source, attach an HDMI cable (sold separately), and secure the latch. Gold-plated contacts resist corrosion. The only common issue is forgetting the separate HDMI cable or trying to drive a display beyond the stated 60Hz limit.
