Ultrasonic Level Sensor 26.2 Ft Range
The Flowline LU78-5004 is a non-contact ultrasonic level sensor designed for continuous liquid measurement. It handles corrosive and sticky or dirty liquids without touching the media. The unit provides a 4 to 20mA output signal over a four-wire configuration. It suits industrial tank monitoring and process control applications.
Suited For Corrosive And Sticky Liquids
This sensor works with corrosive liquids and sticky or dirty liquids where contact sensors would fail. The 8 inch dead band means it cannot measure levels closer than that distance to the transducer face. Buyers needing measurement within the dead band or requiring a different output protocol should look at alternative sensor types. The maximum operating pressure is 30 psi.
Integrates With 4 To 20mA Loops
The four-wire 4 to 20mA output connects directly to standard PLC and SCADA analogue inputs. A 2 inch NPT connection mounts the sensor on the tank fitting. The 250V DC maximum voltage rating covers typical industrial power supplies. The 50 kHz operating frequency and 3 inch beam width determine the measurement cone inside the vessel. Media temperature must stay between -7 and 140 degrees F.

Questions about this item
Will the 4 to 20mA output connect directly to my existing PLC analog input module?
The sensor provides a 4 to 20mA current loop output over four wires, compatible with standard industrial analog input cards that accept a 4 to 20mA signal.
Can the sensor handle process temperatures up to 140 degrees F in my current tank?
Yes, the media temperature rating extends to a maximum of 140 degrees F, so it will operate within that limit.
How do I confirm the 0.25 inch accuracy after installation?
Compare the sensor output reading against a calibrated dipstick or sight glass at several levels; the difference should stay within 0.25 inch.
