A USB 3.0 KVM switch lets two computers share four peripherals with one-button or IR remote switching at up to 5 Gbps
The FOCUSTEC SW24U3L lets two computers share four USB peripherals through a single button press or the included IR remote. It presents two USB 3.0 host ports for the PCs and four USB 3.0 device ports for keyboards, mice, printers, scanners or storage. Data moves at up to 5 Gbps and the unit works with Windows, macOS, Linux and Chrome OS without drivers.
Two USB 3.0 Type-A cables are supplied so each computer can be connected immediately. An IR remote and an IR extension cable allow switching from a distance or with the receiver tucked out of sight. A micro-USB power port is provided; attaching a USB power adapter lets the switch drive bus-powered hard drives or other high-draw devices reliably.
The compact metal enclosure includes built-in ESD protection rated at ±8 kV air-gap discharge for durability. Front-panel LEDs show which computer is active at a glance. Four downstream ports accept a mix of USB 3.0, 2.0 and 1.1 gear including webcams, MIDI keyboards, game consoles, smartphones and cooling fans, so the same hub serves office and entertainment devices.

Yes, the micro-USB port on the switch must be connected to a USB power adapter when a hard disk is attached so the hub can supply enough current for the drive.
The upstream link to each computer is USB 3.0 at 5 Gbps, so the combined traffic of the four peripherals shares that single 5 Gbps channel.
The switch is powered only through the micro-USB port when a hard disk is used; otherwise it draws bus power from the host PCs and runs without a fan or heatsink.
