Universal indoor wireless access point with tri-radio design, internal antennas and two Gigabit Ethernet ports

  • Tri-radio design expands wireless coverage
  • Internal antennas simplify installation aesthetics
  • Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports enable wired backhaul
  • Universal indoor form factor fits diverse deployments

FortiAP U231F Universal Indoor Access Point

The FortiAP U231F is a universal indoor wireless access point built with tri‑radio operation and internal antennas. It provides two Gigabit Ethernet RJ45 ports for wired backhaul and is supplied new for deployment in managed network environments.

Practical limits of the tri‑radio design

Tri‑radio hardware divides available spectrum across three radios, which can reduce peak throughput on any single radio when all are active. The two GE RJ45 ports cap wired uplink speed at 1 Gbps, so aggregated wireless traffic above that rate will be constrained by the Ethernet links.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the U231F or the U45 model?

The U231F is the only model in this listing; the number 45 does not identify a second access-point variant.

What does the tri-radio design mean once the unit is mounted in my office?

It provides three separate radio chains inside one housing, each with its own internal antenna, so client devices can connect on different channels simultaneously.
