SFP Module for Gigabit Ethernet

This small form-factor pluggable transceiver adds a 1000Base-LX fibre interface to any compatible SFP port. It suits network administrators who need long-wavelength single-mode connectivity for campus or metro links.

1.25 Gbps optical link with LC connector

The module transmits and receives at 1.25 Gbps over a duplex LC single-mode fibre pair. It handles Gigabit Ethernet and fibre-channel traffic within the LX reach window; bandwidth beyond 1000 Mbps is not supported.

Hot-pluggable SFP form factor

The transceiver slides into a standard SFP cage without powering down the host switch or router. It requires a matching LC single-mode patch cord and an SFP port that accepts 1000Base-LX optics; copper or short-range SX ports will not work.

Questions about this item

Will this 1.25 Gbps SFP module work in an older switch that only has 1000Base-LX SFP ports?

Yes, the module is built to the 1000Base-LX specification so it will operate in any standard SFP port that supports that interface.

How can I confirm the module is linked correctly after I install it?

Check the switch port LEDs for a solid link light and verify the interface shows a 1000 Mbps connection in the management console.

Does the package include the LC fibre patch cable I need to connect to my network?

The module ships with the transceiver only; an LC duplex single-mode fibre patch cable must be purchased separately.
