Smart WiFi climate sensor

The Gaoducash TH16 monitors indoor temperature and humidity over a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection. It suits homeowners, greenhouse keepers or wine-cellar managers who want live readings and historical trends on a phone app. The unit is USB powered so no batteries are needed. Voice queries work through Alexa or Google Assistant via the Tuya Smart or Smart Life platforms.

Sustained monitoring behaviour

Continuous operation is supported by the USB power design, avoiding the drift or gaps that battery-powered units develop as cells age. The sensor maintains its stated ±1°F and ±5% RH accuracy across the full 0 to 140°F range. Data syncs to the cloud in real time, enabling automated scenes that trigger fans, dehumidifiers or air-conditioners whenever thresholds are crossed.

Pre-installation checks

Verify that your router broadcasts a 2.4 GHz SSID because 5 GHz networks are not supported. Ensure a USB port or adapter is available within reach of the 3.15 in cube. The backlit LCD and infrared proximity sensor work best when the device sits on a shelf or desk rather than inside a sealed enclosure. No hub is required beyond the existing WiFi router.

Questions about this item

Does the TH16 generate noticeable heat or noise when running continuously on USB power?

The TH16 is USB powered with no internal battery, so it draws minimal current and has no fan or moving parts; it stays silent and adds negligible warmth to the room.

What existing equipment is required before the TH16 can connect and report data?

You need a 2.4 GHz WiFi network and a smartphone with the Tuya Smart or Smart Life app installed; 5 GHz networks are not supported.

Can the TH16 work alongside an older non-smart hygrometer I already use for cross-checking?

Yes, the TH16 operates independently on its own USB power and WiFi link, so it can sit beside any legacy hygrometer without interference.
